Executive Director’s Commentary

Last year a professional market research firm sent a survey to a representative sample of FMCA members. Although it has been awhile since we received the results, I decided to take this opportunity to share some of the feedback we received, and to thank those who received and returned the survey.
I am happy to report that the response rate was 30.4 percent — very high for this type of survey, compared with routine survey response rates. This rate is especially impressive when one considers the length of the survey. It was 27 pages long and encompassed 132 questions. I know that those who filled it out spent a great deal of time. FMCA really appreciates those of you who took the time to thoughtfully answer the questions and return your completed surveys to us.
The results of the survey are used to evaluate decisions that are being made regarding member benefits. They are used to help us understand where the membership is in terms of owning computers and using e-mail and the Internet. The results are also especially helpful in marketing this magazine and our Web site, www.fmca.com, to potential advertisers.
I would also like to note that FMCA is always interested in your thoughts or comments about current member benefits and suggestions about benefits that should be considered in the future. Another way you can share your input is through your national area vice president. You may contact him or her by e-mail via www.fmca.com; click on FMCA Executive Committee and then the vice president’s name. You also may contact him or her by calling the voice mail telephone number and leaving a message in the voice mail box of your respective vice president. Their names and voice mail box numbers are listed on the first page of the “President’s Message” column each month. This month the list can be found on page 6.
