Convention-goers will have a sensational time exploring the multitude of RV-related products and motorhomes on display at FMCA’s Perry, Georgia, convention.

Motorhomers who attend FMCA’s 27th annual winter international convention will have more than Georgia on their minds. The “Southern Sensation” convention, which will take place March 19, 20, and 21 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry, will abound with seminars, entertainment, and impromptu good times. But that’s not all. Convention-goers also will enjoy an RV shopping showcase beyond compare. For starters, more than 700 type A, type B, and type C motorhomes, plus custom bus conversions, will be on display, representing the vast majority of makes and models  available today. In addition, more than 600 booths filled with all manner of RV-related merchandise will fill two buildings dedicated to supplier and component exhibits. This is one shopping opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Regular display hours for both indoor and outdoor exhibits will be 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19; Wednesday, March 20; and Thursday, March 21. As an added bonus, a special motorhome preview will take place on Monday, March 18. From 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, display coaches in the outdoor exhibit area will be open for touring, enabling folks to jump-start their convention fun.

Following is a compilation of the companies and products that FMCAers can expect to see at the “Southern Sensation” convention. This information is up-to-date as of press time; of course, subsequent additions and deletions will alter the list.

Gasoline- and diesel-powered Land Yacht motorhomes will share center stage in the Airstream Inc. (937-596-6111, OH) display. This venerable RV company celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2002.

Motorhomers who are planning or just dreaming of a trip to Alaska will want to stop by the Alaska Marine Highway (907-486-3800, AK) booth and pick up information regarding ferry travel in the Last Frontier.

Brochures and other information about the popular Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (505-821-1000, NM) will be available in Perry.

Alcoa forged aluminum wheels and accessories for motorhomes will be offered for inspection by Alcoa Wheel Products (517-622-3886, MI).

Company representatives from All Star Dips (510-610-9894, TX) will tempt convention attendees with an array of dry spices that can be used to create delicious dips, spreads, and salad dressings.

Allison Transmission (800-252-5283, IN) will exhibit its transmissions designed expressly for the motorhome market: the 3000 MH and 4000 MH.

View demonstrations of Lip Ink, the Miracle Towel, and the Miracle Mop compliments of Almost Heaven Products (928-580-7394, AZ). Massage pillows, hairbrushes, sun visors, ear pops, and hampers will also be featured.

Alpin Haus (800-541-8248, NY), an Amsterdam, New York, RV dealer, will travel to Perry to showcase its lineup of Monaco motorhomes.

American Carriage Inc. (661-822-1767, CA), a custom bus converter from Tehachapi, California, will be found in the Prevost display area.

American Coach Inc. (517-869-2253, MI) will showcase examples of its bus conversion handiwork in the Prevost display.

Using Amsoil synthetic oil is said to result in superior engine performance, longer engine life, better fuel mileage, extended drain intervals, reduced maintenance, and cooler transmission temperatures.

These will include iron-on appliqués and assorted crystals and studs, along with ladies’ blank T-shirts on which to decorate. Bob and BarbaraAnne DuBree of B.A.D. Associates Inc. (561-486-5946, FL) will be in Perry to display items from the 303, Dicor, and Reliable Super Cleaner product lines.

Convention-goers will have the opportunity to examine performance products showcased by Banks Power (800-438-7693, CA). The company’s product lineup includes the Banks Brake and the Banks SpeedBrake supplemental braking systems for diesel vehicles. In addition to extending their Southern charm, Blue Bird representatives will be happy to show you through the Blue Bird LX, and LXi models, as well as Blue Bird’s brand-new M380, which will make its debut at the “Southern Sensation” convention.

Blue Ox Towing Products (402-385-3051, NE) will feature the Aventa II tow bar, which recently earned a Class IV, 10,000-pound rating. The steel tow bar features a self-aligning pivot design and folds and stores directly on the coach. The RV Underskirt has been added to the company’s product line; this device provides protection for towed vehicles, towing equipment, and motorhome cameras. Officials from Cam-Plex Multi-Event Facilities (307-682-0552, WY) will provide information about this facility located in Gillette, Wyoming, which features 1,821 RV sites. They’ll also be chatting about the Wyoming International RV Rally, set to take place at Cam-Plex in August 2002.

Caterpillar Inc. (309-675-5260, IL) invites FMCA members to take an up-close-and-personal look at the company’s diesel engines.

Centramatic (800-332-3636, TX) will proffer patented on-board balancing systems for tires and wheels. These balancers automatically redistribute weight where it’s needed (down to 1/10-ounce increments) each time the coach is driven. Centramatic balancers are said to increase tire life up to 50 percent. Public bus service runs from the campground to Washington’s MetroRail system for easy sight-seeing. Cherry Hill Park received the National ARVC Campground of the Year Award for 2001-2002.

This design has a stated weight limit of 1,500 pounds and allows a motorcycle to be ridden both on and off the lift. The motorcycle is raised and carried high so that those who wish to tow a trailer and carry a motorcycle at the same time can have access to the trailer hitch on the coach. A solid-steel hold-down eliminates the need to keep the motorcycle upright with straps, and a simple up-and-down winch eliminates the need for a pulley system. Fuel chargers and A.F.E. air filters will fill the Dr. Performance of Florida Inc. (800-851-5334, FL) display. The fuel chargers are designed to increase mileage through ionization; the air filters are made of cotton and thus washable and reusable.
