Multipurpose Chest

The Komo Multipurpose Chest is compatible with motorhomes and with most other vehicles as well, because it has a tilting feature that allows access to the rear of the vehicle. Constructed of polyethylene, it is resistant to cold temperatures and ultraviolet rays. The exterior of the Komo measures 45 inches high, 34 inches deep, and 70 inches wide. The design of the chest is such that even with it in place the motorhome owner is able to tow a boat trailer or a car, if desired. The Komo offers both weather and theft protection for golf clubs, mobility carts, wheelchairs, bicycles, and many other items that can be carried inside the 110-pound chest. For safety, it is equipped with taillights.

The new Cummins QuickCheck II system for Palm or HandEra hand-held devices is said to meet the engine diagnostic needs of owners of any electronic diesel engine from any manufacturer. Designed to read and capture engine, transmission, and brake system information from electronic engines, it reportedly covers all diesel engine broadcasts quickly and conveniently. It can read fault codes, trip information, engine parameters, and data. Using the parameter screen on the Palm hand-held device, several engine functions can be checked in real time. These include data from sensors and switches; engine load and speed; coolant and intake manifold temperatures; output torque; fuel rate; and transmission oil pressure. The QuickCheck II kit includes a custom data-link adapter, all necessary interface cables and connectors, and the diagnostic software application. The kit is priced at less than $300. A second software and cable package is also available for diagnosing the Cummins 24-valve turbo diesel engine in Dodge Ram trucks.

MaxxAir Vent Corporation now offers a replacement hardware kit to simplify moving a MaxxAir vent cover from one motorhome to another. The kits also can be used in the event that work is being done on the roof and the cover must be removed and replaced. The Zero Leak Hardware Kit is included with standard MaxxAir vent covers but now can be purchased separately to simplify reinstalling the cover. The kit carries a suggested retail price of $6.95. This kit should not be confused with the discontinued universal bracket kit, nor should it be used for installing MaxxAir’s Fan/Mate rain covers or Turbo/Maxx all-weather fan ventilators.

Valco Cincinnati Inc. offers Hylomar, a high-performance gasket maker and dressing. According to company literature, non-hardening Hylomar is impervious to engine fluids such as fuels, oils, and antifreeze. A joint treated with the product can be disassembled, inspected, and reassembled without reapplication. Because Hylomar will bond through a thin film of oil, minimal surface preparation is needed. Hylomar can be used as a dressing for cut gaskets where the temperature remains below 600 degrees Fahrenheit. When the two surfaces to be sealed are precision-machined with a gap less than .010-inch, the product will form a gasket if used by itself. Hylomar is available in 1.5-ounce tubes, 100-gram tubes, and in 250-milliliter brush-cap cans.

Wash Wax ALL heavy-duty cleaner/degreaser from Aero Cosmetics can be used to clean engine soot off motorhomes, trucks, cars, boats, and even aircraft.
