Cut Down On Laundry

Box of facial cleanes with soapWhile traveling, we try to keep our laundry to a minimum. I like to clean my face each day with a clean washcloth, but this makes extra laundry. So I bought a box of facial cleaners that already have the soap in them (I like the Olay brand). Not only do they reduce the laundry pile, but they require less space.

Handy Trash Bags

When you come home from the supermarket with plastic grocery bags, don’t just empty the bags and store them someplace in the kitchen. Instead, put them in the bottoms of wastebaskets throughout the motorhome (or house) and you’ll always have a replacement bag handy.

Awning Strap Storage

Idea for awning strap storageI have found a simple way to keep the awning’s pull-down strap out of the way when camping. Neatly fold the strap on itself from bottom to top and then wrap a rubber band or elastic ponytail holder around it. This makes for a much cleaner looking campsite.

Tin-Can Candle Holders

Tin-can candle holdersTo make safe, windproof candle lanterns for your campsite, use a hammer and a large nail to punch hole patterns in tin cans. Such punching requires a “buck” or backing so the nail makes a clean hole through the metal without denting the can. Here’s how: fill each can with water, then freeze it overnight. When you’re ready to start the project, remove the can from the freezer, clamp it securely, and quickly punch the holes before the ice melts.
