Recall Corner: March 2010

March 1, 2010

Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation has announced NHTSA recall 09V461000, which includes XC motorhome chassis manufactured from March 6, 2007, through December 11, 2009. The potential number of motorhome chassis involved is 2,749.

Certain Freightliner chassis were equipped with adjustable brake pedal assemblies supplied by Kongsberg Power Products Systems Inc. In rare cases, the adjustable brake pedal arm may loosen, potentially allowing the arm to rotate around its shaft and swing in front of the accelerator pedal, reducing brake function. A loose brake pedal increases the risk of a vehicle crash.

A Freightliner dealer will inspect and install a C-clamp to the brake pedal assembly to keep it from loosening. The repair is expected to take approximately 30 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service center may need the vehicle for a longer time period.

For more information about this recall, contact Freightliner Custom Chassis at (800) 385-4357, or (800) 785-4357 after normal business hours. Owner notification was expected to begin in January 2010.
