Fleetwood RV Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 11V090000 (Fleetwood recall 110204FRV), which affects 2010 model-year Fiesta motorhomes built from November 5, 2009, through May 24, 2010. The potential number of motorhomes involved is 76.
On the affected motorhomes, the headlights may have been incorrectly wired, resulting in reduced headlight illumination with the headlights on low beam. Inadequate illumination of the low-beam headlights could result in decreased driver vision, as well as the vehicle’s visibility to other drivers, which could increase the risk of a crash.
A Fleetwood RV dealer will inspect the headlight wiring and, if necessary, move the wires to the correct position on the headlight bulb socket connections. The repair is expected to take approximately 30 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.
For more information, contact Fleetwood RV at (800) 509-3418. Owner notification was expected to begin in February 2011.
Newmar Corporation has announced NHTSA recall 11V067000, which affects certain 2011 model-year Essex DP, King Aire DP, and Mountain Aire DP motorhomes built from October 14, 2009, through November 30, 2010. The potential number of motorhomes involved is 106.
The affected motorhomes are equipped with V-Bus FET-8 control boards manufactured by KIB Electronics. KIB has identified a potential defect in the boards that may result in an unrecognized excessive current situation. This failure may create a shock or fire hazard and may occur without obvious preceding indicators.
A Newmar dealer will reprogram the KIB V-Bus lighting and control network. The repair is expected to take approximately 20 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.
For more information, contact Newmar at (574) 773-7791. Owner notification was expected to begin in February 2011.
Winnebago Industries Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 11V096000, which affects certain 2010 and 2011 model-year Itasca Ellipse and Winnebago Tour motorhomes built from August 7, 2009, through February 7, 2011. The potential number of motorhomes involved is 283.
The affected motorhomes fail to comply with the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 567, “Certification.” The Vehicle Certification Label states the vehicles are equipped with Load Range “G” tires, but the vehicles actually have Load Range “H” tires.
Owners will be provided with new Vehicle Certification Labels with the correct tire load rating, along with installation instructions. Should the owner prefer, an appointment can be made for the dealer to replace the label. The service is expected to take approximately 15 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.
For more information, contact Winnebago Industries at (641) 585-6939. Owner notification was expected to begin by February 25, 2011.
Workhorse Custom Chassis has announced NHTSA recall 10V348000, which affects 2007 through 2011 model-year R26, W16/18, W20/22, and W24 motorhome chassis built from February 5, 2007, through May 24, 2010, and equipped with either a 75-gallon or 100-gallon dual-fill gasoline fuel tank. The potential number of chassis involved is approximately 1,900 units.
On the affected chassis, the fuel-fill cap assemblies used to seal the unused side of the dual-fill gasoline tank inlet were produced with a hose material that did not meet design specifications. During normal usage, the hose material may deteriorate, which could result in a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire that could lead to property damage, personal injury, or death.
A Workhorse service center will replace the fuel fill cap assembly(ies) with a new fuel fill cap that has the correct hose material. The repair is expected to take approximately 40 minutes to 3 hours to complete, depending on the vehicle configuration. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.
