Each year, Achievers International, an FMCA chapter that was established in 1986 for motorhomers with physical disabilities, designates a charitable organization to help. Typically, the chosen charity is based in the host city for FMCA’s Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase event.
That was the case this year when the chapter selected Riley Hospital For Children in Indianapolis, Indiana, as its beneficiary. On August 26, just prior to the start of FMCA’s 87th Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase in Indianapolis, the chapter presented a $500 check to the hospital.
Achievers International chapter president William Loy presented the check to 10-year-old Riley Lesh, who accepted it on behalf of the hospital. (Coincidentally, her parents already had chosen her name before she was born.) Riley entered the world prematurely, weighing just 1 pound 10 ounces and with a hole in her heart. Three weeks after her birth, she underwent open-heart surgery to have the hole repaired. She is now a vibrant child, thanks in part to the folks at Riley Hospital.
