December 2012
Eight members of the Mohawk Roamers chapter attended a rally in Oswego, New York, during the 25th annual Harborfest celebration on Lake Ontario, July 26 through 29, 2012. Entertainment included a battle re-enactment that featured three tall ships in the harbor exchanging cannon fire with uniformed soldiers at Fort Ontario. On Saturday night, an impressive fireworks display lit the sky over the lake. The next day, one of the chapter members went out for an early-morning walk around the fort and discovered a large amount of litter strewn around from the previous night’s fireworks. She went back to the rally site and enlisted the help of other Mohawk Roamers to pick up the garbage that had been left by folks who watched the display from the fort grounds. The Mohawk Roamers members involved in this impromptu cleanup project (left to right) were Carolyn and Ron Allen; Glen and Linda Gasstrom; Joan and John Annutto; and Olga and Ralph Grandinette.
