March 2013
In December 2012, a delegation from the California Southwinders chapter met with Barbara Musella, center manager at the Bob Hope Hollywood USO at the Los Angeles airport (LAX), and presented a $500 donation. All donations made to the USO at LAX are used at that location. The USO is always open and is staffed by volunteers.
Approximately 67,000 troops use the USO at LAX each year. Military personnel from other countries have visited this USO to see how our program works, so they can create their own. However, as of now, no other country in the world has its own USO. Ms. Musella said that troops sent to the United States for training from other countries, such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, or India, are welcome to use our USO as well.
