Recall Corner: April 2013

April 1, 2013

Entegra Coach has announced NHTSA recall 13V028000, which affects 2011 through 2013 model-year Anthem, Aspire, and Cornerstone motorhomes built from March 14, 2011, through September 25, 2012. The potential number of vehicles involved is 359.

On the affected motorhomes, a windshield wiper link that was installed is shorter than required for proper function of the wiper system. The incorrect wiper linkage may not allow the wipers to operate as designed, and the driver’s visibility may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.

An Entegra Coach dealer will replace the incorrect windshield wiper linkage with one that is the proper length. The repair is expected to take approximately 15 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer period of time.

For more information about this recall, contact Entegra Coach at (800) 945-4787. Owner notification was expected to begin in February 2013.

General Motors LLC has announced NHTSA recall 13V010000 (GM recall 12332), which affects 2013 model-year Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans, some of which may have been used in the production of Type B and Type C motorhomes. The vans in question were built from November 1, 2012, through December 21, 2012. The potential number of vehicles involved is 980.

The affected vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 114, “Theft protection and rollaway prevention.” It may be possible to remove the key from the ignition when the vehicle is running or the transmission is not in the “Park” position. If the key is removed while the vehicle is still on or the vehicle is not in “Park,” the vehicle may roll away, and the unintended movement of the vehicle may result in a possible crash or injury to pedestrians.

A General Motors dealer will replace the faulty ignition lock cylinder and the two associated keys. The repair is expected to take approximately 45 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer period of time.

For more information about this recall, Chevrolet owners should call (800) 630-2438; GMC owners should call (866) 996-9463. Owner notification was expected to begin in January 2013.
