July 2014
At its members meeting this past March during FMCA’s Family Reunion in Perry, Georgia, the Diesel RV Club chapter was presented with a 10th anniversary certificate by INTO (International Area) officers. The presenters were Alfred Vormittag Jr., national vice president, International Area; senior vice president Jerry Ayers; and vice presidents David Kessler and Bill Campbell. The certificate was accepted by chapter president Ken Carpenter.
The Diesel RV Club originally was chartered as the CAT RV Club and held its first business meeting on March 18, 2004, during the FMCA convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The CAT RV Club was started by Don Tallman and a group of FMCA motorhome owners who had coaches with engines powered by Caterpillar diesel engines. The chapter had 390 charter members. Don was elected as the chapter’s first president. A special thanks to Don and to Suzie Adcock from Caterpillar Inc. for getting this club off the ground. Although Don was not able to attend the Perry meeting, he did send his best wishes.
As part of our celebration, members enjoyed birthday cake inscribed with “The Journey Continues: Happy 10th Anniversary, 2004-2014.”
The purpose of the Diesel RV Club is to serve all FMCA members with an interest in diesel-powered motorhomes, whether Type A, B, or C.
The chapter offers rallies that combine social and technical programs for the purpose of the following:
- Exchanging information on how to keep diesel coach repair costs to a minimum, how to maintain them, and how to get maximum performance;
- Helping to promote diesel engines in all RV types and to help our fellow RVers.
- Providing opportunities for fun and fellowship.
- Supporting FMCA activities such as rallies and Family Reunions.
