October 2015
The Country Coach Friends Incorporated chapter has made a habit of giving back to the communities where its rallies are held. That’s just part of what makes belonging to this club special.
Eighty-six motorhome enthusiasts from nine states, stretching from Florida to Washington and from Minnesota to Texas, rallied from May 12-17, 2015, at the Buckhorn Lake Resort in Kerrville, Texas. During the rally, $22,330 was raised to benefit Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas, which provides service dog companions to American military veterans with disabilities. The dogs play a role in the physical and emotional recovery of veterans and help them regain independence.
In 2014, with 36 coaches attending the chapter’s annual Friendship Rally in Albany, Oregon, $8,565 was raised to benefit two food banks in the area where Country Coach motorhomes were built: God’s Storehouse in Harrisburg, Oregon, and Junction City Local Aid in Junction City, Oregon. Earlier in 2014, at the Country Coach Friends Inc. spring rally in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, the chapter raised $10,435 for the Wounded Warrior Project, which assists injured military service members.
Country Coach Friends Inc. was founded on friendship with 42 motorhome owners at the initial rally in 2011. It now numbers more than 200 coach families from coast to coast, and is growing. Members stay connected via a monthly electronic newsletter. Membership and rallies are open to owners of all brands of motorhomes. Jerry O Connor, the chapter’s vice president of events and promotion, assists in the coordination of chapter rallies and business sponsors. He can be reached at (775) 742-4627.
