Forest River Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 16V-015, which involves certain model-year 2016 Coachmen Cross Country motorhomes manufactured from May 26, 2015, to December 2, 2015. The potential number of affected vehicles is 56.
In the affected units, during a full jounce, or compression, of the front suspension system, the front tires may be damaged from contact with the fuel fill guard. If a tire is damaged and deflates, it may result in a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a revised fuel fill guard that will not contact the tires. Any tire that shows contact with the fuel fill guard will be replaced. The recall was expected to begin in March 2016. For more information, contact Forest River customer service. Owners east of the Mississippi River can call (574) 825-8305; owners west of the Mississippi River can call (574) 825-8317.
Gulf Stream Coach Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 16V-007, which involves certain model-year 2008-2011 Caribbean, Yellowstone, and Independence; 2008-2009 Crescendo, Sun Voyager, and Toy Hauler; 2008 Sun Sport; 2008-2010 Tour Master; 2010 B Touring Cruiser; 2010-2011 Conquest; 2009-2010 Conquest Super C and Super Nova; and 2009 Endura and Gladiator motorhomes manufactured from August 1, 2007, to September 30, 2010. The potential number of affected vehicles is 662.
The affected vehicles are equipped with certain Lippert Components Coach Step double and triple electric steps, which use a bolt to attach the fan gear assembly to the steps. The bolt may fracture, allowing the fan gear to disengage from the steps. As a result, the steps may not remain in the expected position and may be unstable. Unstable entry and exit steps increase the risk of injury.
Gulf Stream will notify owners, and dealers will install a retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism. A notification schedule was not available at press time. For more information, contact Gulf Stream customer service at (800) 289-8787 or Lippert customer service at (574) 537-8900.
Newmar Corporation has announced three NHTSA recalls.
The first is recall 16V-008, which involves certain model-year 2008-2014 Bay Star, Dutch Star, and Ventana; 2012-2014 Bay Star Sport and Ventana VL; 2008-2015 Canyon Star; 2009-2010 Dutch Aire; and 2008 Kountry Star motorhomes manufactured from May 29, 2007, to January 14, 2015. The potential number of affected motorhomes is 3,712.
Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will install a retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism. The recall was expected to begin in March 2016. For more information, contact Newmar customer service at (574) 773-7791 or Lippert customer service at (574) 537-8900.
The second is recall 16V-041, which involves certain model-year 2016 Ventana and Dutch Star motorhomes manufactured from March 19, 2015, to January 21, 2016, and built on Freightliner chassis. The potential number of affected vehicles is 283.
In the affected motorhomes, an “Incomplete Vehicle Label” incorrectly lists the maximum front tire inflation level to be 130 psi; the correct level is 120 psi. If a tire is overinflated as a result of the incorrect label, the tire may unexpectedly fail, increasing the risk of a crash.
Newmar will notify owners, and Freightliner will provide a corrected label. The recall was expected to begin in March 2016. For more information, contact Newmar customer service at (574) 773-7791.
The third is recall 16V-055, which involves certain model-year 2015 Ventana and 2015-2016 Ventana LE motorhomes manufactured from January 16, 2015, to January 13, 2016, and built on Freightliner chassis. The potential number of affected vehicles is 165.
The affected vehicles may have a front rim maximum pounds-per-square-inch rating of 120 psi, which is lower than the Michelin tires’ maximum inflation rating of 130 psi. If tires are inflated to their maximum pressure, the rims may suddenly fail as a result of being overpressurized, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall was expected to begin in March 2016. The remedy had not been finalized at press time. For more information, contact Newmar customer service at (574) 773-7791.
Showhauler Trucks Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 16V-039, which involves certain model-year 2007-2011 Motorhomes, Toterhomes, and Motorhome with Garage units manufactured from June, 1, 2007, to April 13, 2011. The potential number of affected units is 190.
ShowHauler will notify owners, and dealers will install a retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism. The recall was expected to begin in February 2016. For more information, contact ShowHauler customer service at (574) 825-6764 or Lippert customer service at (574) 537-8900.
Winnebago Industries Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 16V-026, which involves certain model-year 2015-2016 Winnebago Travato, Trend, and Itasca Viva motorhomes manufactured from February 27, 2015, to January 6, 2016, and built on the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US (FCA) Ram ProMaster chassis. The potential number of affected vehicles is 359.
In the affected motorhomes, the ignition switch may intermittently lose electrical contact, which can result in a vehicle stall and/or a partial or complete loss of the air bags, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and/or instrument panel cluster. Failure of those systems may increase the risk of a crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Owners were to receive interim notices in January 2016. FCA will notify owners when remedy parts become available, and FCA dealers will replace the ignition switch contact holder block. For more information, contact FCA customer service at (800) 853-1403 or Winnebago customer service at (641) 585-3535.
