Daimler Trucks North America LLC has announced NHTSA recall 16V-121, which involves certain model-year 2014-2016 Freightliner Custom Chassis XCP chassis manufactured from April 26, 2013, through December 15, 2014. The potential number of affected units is 128.
The power steering fluid temperature may exceed the hose material ratings on some rear-engine chassis built with certain 18,000-pound-load-capacity and 20,000-pound-load-capacity front axles used in motorhome applications. This can cause the hose to fail, resulting in a sudden loss of power steering fluid and power assist. Loss of power steering assist makes steering at low speeds more difficult, increasing the risk of a crash.
Daimler Trucks will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power steering hose with one that has a higher temperature rating. The recall was expected to begin in April 2016.

Forest River Inc. has announced two recalls.
The first is NHTSA recall 16V-094, which involves certain model-year 2016 Coachmen Galleria motorhomes manufactured from October 30, 2015, through February 15, 2016. The potential number of affected vehicles is 23.
In the affected motorhomes, federal placards incorrectly list the number of seatbelts as zero. Also, the placards do not account for the fresh-water capacity in the vehicle weight calculation, and the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is missing from the label. With no GVWR listed on the label, the operator may overload the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected federal placard. The recall was expected to begin in April 2016. For more information, contact Forest River customer service at (574) 825-8628.
The second is NHTSA recall 16V-126, which involves certain model-year 2016-2017 Dynamax Rev motorhomes manufactured from April 1, 2015, through February 15, 2016, and 2016-2017 Coachmen Orion motorhomes manufactured from May 18, 2015, through December 10, 2015. The potential number of affected vehicles is 176.
The affected motorhomes, built on Ram ProMaster chassis, have an ignition switch that may have an intermittent loss of electrical contact, which can result in a vehicle stall and/or a partial or complete loss of air bags, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and/or instrument panel cluster. Loss of functionality with any of these safety systems can increase the risk of a crash and injury.
Forest River will notify owners, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) dealers will replace the ignition switch contact holder block. The recall was expected to begin April 29, 2016. For more information, contact the FCA recall assistance center, (800) 853-1403, or Forest River customer service at (574) 262-3474.
Thor Motor Coach has announced NHTSA recall 16V-139, which involves certain model-year 2014-2016 Hurricane and Windsport motorhomes manufactured from January 30, 2013, to March 6, 2015. The potential number of affected vehicles is 385.
In the affected motorhomes, the vehicle exhaust is located near a storage compartment where heat may build up, causing the compartment to melt. Heat buildup in the storage compartment increases the risk of a fire.
Thor Motor Coach will notify owners, and dealers will install a heat shield to prevent heat from building up in the storage compartment. The recall was expected to begin in April 2016. For more information, contact Thor Motor Coach customer service at (877) 855-2867.
Universal Trailer Corporation has announced NHTSA recall 16V-132, which involves certain model-year 2007-2010 Haulmark Motorcoach vehicles manufactured from April 1, 2007, to June 30, 2010. The potential number of affected motorhomes is 217.
The affected vehicles are equipped with certain Lippert Components Coach Step double electric steps, which use a bolt to attach the fan gear assembly to the steps. The bolt may fracture, allowing the fan gear to disengage from the steps. As a result, the steps may not remain in the expected position and may become unstable, increasing the risk of injury.
The recall is expected to begin May 9, 2016. Universal Trailer will notify owners. Dealers will install a retainer bracket on the double-step assemblies; the Coach Step linkage assembly will be replaced and a retainer bracket will be installed on the step assemblies. Winnebago Industries Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 16V-155, which involves certain model-year 2015 Winnebago Adventurer motorhomes manufactured from January 16, 2016, to March 8, 2016, and 2015-2016 Itasca Suncruiser motorhomes manufactured from January 6, 2016, to March 8, 2016. The potential number of affected vehicles is 31.
In the affected motorhomes, improper torquing of the hitch bolts could cause the hitch to detach, increasing the risk of a crash. Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the hitch attachment and, if necessary, replace it and apply torque to the specified setting. For more information, contact Winnebago customer service at (641) 585-3535.
