Park Service Teams Up With Black Fraternity
The National Park Service (NPS) and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. have signed an agreement to work together to protect, preserve, and promote Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument and the Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site, both of which are dedicated to the legacy of important African-American figures in U.S. history.
The agreement is the first of its kind between the NPS and a national African-American organization.
Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument preserves Young’s legacy as a diplomat, civil rights leader, soldier, and the first African-American national park superintendent. The Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site tells the story of “the Father of Black History,” who created the first scholarly narrative of African-American history. Both Woodson and Young were members of Omega Psi Phi, an international fraternity founded in 1911 at Howard University.

FMCA Member’s Book Now Available
Pat Duggan, F450752, says she witnessed the wonders of God’s creation while traveling extensively by motorhome. The experience led her to write a self-published book, Finding God In An RV: A Spiritual Journey.
Ms. Duggan lived in her native England for more than 30 years and was married for 23 years. After her husband’s untimely death more than 20 years ago, she met a woman named Barbara Copfer, with whom she now shares her RV adventures. “This has been a journey far beyond my expectations, not only in what God has shown me on the road, but also in what he has taught me during the quiet times,” Ms. Duggan wrote in the book’s introduction.
The paperback can be purchased for $9.95 from Create Space, www.createspace.com/6236410, or from www.amazon.com. The Kindle version from Amazon is $6.99.
