February 2017
Thor Diesel Club, an FMCA chapter for owners of Type A motorhomes manufactured by Thor Motor Coach, held its Fall International Rally from October 2 through 7, 2016, at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds in Elkhart, Indiana. Members arrived in a record-breaking 135 motorhomes for the event.
In addition to meeting fellow members, attendees saw Thor Motor Coach’s newest diesel pushers on display. They also attended seminars with presenters such as Freightliner and Lippert Components. Members took an in-depth tour of the Thor diesel manufacturing plant in Wakarusa, Indiana. Members also enjoyed food and entertainment.
Proceeds from nightly raffles were donated to Fisher House Foundation (which provides free housing for military families while a loved one receives medical treatment at a Veterans Administration facility); Samaritan’s Purse (an international relief organization); America’s VetDogs (a service-dog program for military personnel and first-responders with disabilities); and the Salvation Army.
The chapter, which formed in October 2010, is sponsored by Thor Motor Coach. Chapter membership and attendance at rallies both are growing. Further, members have a strong connection to Thor and a deep loyalty to the chapter. Whenever there’s a need for volunteers, members readily respond. According to the Thor Diesel Club website, the chapter is “geared toward relaxing enjoyment, where we share experiences, friendship, and the love of RVing.”
To join the Thor Diesel Club, one must be an owner of a qualifying Thor Motor Coach Type A diesel motorhome. For more information, visit www.thordieselclub.org or www.thormotorcoach.com/thordieselclub.
