Snowbirds Assist Habitat For Humanity

Snowbirds staying at Rincon Country West RV Resort in Tucson, Arizona, spend part of their winters building Habitat for Humanity houses. During the winter of 2015-16, volunteers helped build 14 homes for low-income families; this past winter, they helped construct 13 more.

Rincon Country RV Resorts, which includes Rincon Country East and Rincon Country West, is an FMCA commercial member. Some snowbirds stay at Rincon Country West each winter just so they can be part of the resort’s Habitat crew. They leave the resort every Thursday morning to frame houses, caulk, and paint, among other chores. For volunteers with little or no construction background, it’s a chance to learn new skills as they work alongside experienced builders and painters.

So, families seeking affordable housing are selected for Habitat for Humanity homeownership based on their level of need; their willingness to invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, or “sweat equity”; and their ability to repay a mortgage through an affordable payment plan.

REV Group Buys Renegade RV

First, REV Group announced in December 2016 that it acquired Renegade RV, a Bristol, Indiana-based manufacturer of RVs, heavy-duty trailers, and specialty vehicles. Renegade RV is now a part of a REV Group subsidiary, REV Recreation Group, which manufactures Type A and Type C motorhomes under the brand names American Coach, Monaco, Holiday Rambler, and Fleetwood RV.

Renegade RV, founded in 1997, employs approximately 175 people. Manufacturing operations will remain in a 200,000-square-foot production facility in Bristol. Renegade RV’s independent dealer network will continue to promote and sell its products.

Aqua-Hot Offers Remanufacturing

Aqua-Hot Heating Systems recently announced a program that gives many RV owners the option of having their Aqua-Hot and Hydro-Hot units remanufactured with improved technology at a cost significantly lower than that of a new system. The program covers many of the Aqua-Hot and Hydro-Hot products manufactured over the past 30 years.

Another advantage of remanufacturing, according to company officials, is that it utilizes existing connections and controls, so reinstallation is easier and faster.

Also, a remanufactured Aqua-Hot system receives a new serial number. The system includes many replacement components, such as the tank and cabinet. The new tank is equipped with a low-emission burn chamber, which eliminates up to 80 percent of hydrocarbons and provides a smoke-free and odor-free environment for RV owners and their neighbors, according to the company.

Now, the burner is rebuilt. An improved temperature tempering valve and internal coil improve heat transfer, providing enhanced hot-water performance. Check all other components. The remanufactured units are zero-pressure systems that use safer propylene glycol.

Lastly, once completed, the units are thoroughly tested and inspected, and a new one-year Aqua-Hot Heating Systems factory warranty is issued. For more information, visit www.aquahot.com or call (800) 685-4298 or (303) 651-5500.
