Shade Pull-Down Tab
On my screen door, the plastic tab used to pull down the shade cracked and fell off. I bought a package of Command brand cord bundlers and made a new tab by trimming the rubber part of one of the cord bundlers. I couldn’t secure the new tab to the original hole because of how the shade attaches to the door. Still, the new tab works fine.

Reflector Replacements
The reflectors attached to the mud flap on the back of my motorhome were damaged. They are aluminum strips with a 1-inch-by-12-inch reflector. I could not find replacements. So, I made my own using plastic, adhesive-backed reflector strips that I purchased for about $5 a pair at an RV accessories store, and a 3-foot aluminum strip that I bought for $7 at a home-improvement store. The replacement aluminum was thicker than the original, but it was fairly easy to cut with a sharp hacksaw. I applied metal polish to the aluminum before mounting the reflectors. For about $12, the appearance has improved greatly.

Basement Storage Rehab
As I restored and improved my 1992 Fleetwood Flair 22D motorhome, the exterior storage areas needed tender loving care. I removed the felt lining, cleaned the area with a diluted bleach solution, and sprayed on Kilz Complete oil-based paint. I allowed it to cure (48 to 72 hours) and then I painted a coat of Kilz Complete to ensure that the entire storage area was sealed. If you do this, a rubber floor material or an adhesive rubber mat can be added to the compartment once the paint cures.

Editor’s note:The Kilz website notes that primers and paint require 14 days to cure fully.
