The Over the Hills chapter held a rally September 20 to 24, 2017, at Sunset Lakes RV Resort in Hillsdale, Illinois, which is just east of the Quad Cities area. Members arrived in 17 motorhomes for the event.
During the rally, attendees visited a number of nearby attractions, including the John Deere Pavilion, world headquarters, and plant in Moline, Illinois, as well as the Quad Cities Balloon Festival in East Moline, Illinois.
Another highlight was dinner and a performance of “Cash: Ring of Fire” — a musical revue of the life and times of Johnny Cash — at Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse in Rock Island, Illinois. Circa ’21 is housed in the historic Fort Armstrong Theatre, which opened in 1921. The theater originally was a popular vaudeville and silent movie house.
The Over the Hills chapter encompasses northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, and Lake Michigan to the Mississippi River. It was chartered in 1974.
