Recall Corner: April 2018

Daimler Vans USA

Recall 18V-032: Certain 2013 Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500 and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles manufactured from August 28, 2012, to July 9, 2013, equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules. In the event of a crash that deploys the passenger frontal air bag, the inflators may explode. Daimler Vans, (877) 762-8267.

Forest River Inc.

Recall 18V-002: Certain 2018 Surveyor travel trailers manufactured from September 15, 2017, to December 18, 2017. A circuit breaker allows more current than the wiring can handle. Forest River, (574) 642-3119.

Recall 18V-034: Certain 2017-2018 Cherokee travel trailers manufactured from March 20, 2017, to October 30, 2017. A 14-gauge neutral wire and a 12-gauge neutral wire in the electronic management system were terminated under the same lug in the 120-volt panel neutral bus bar. Forest River, (260) 499-2100.

Recall 17V-835: Certain 2018 Prime Time Crusader fifth-wheel and Sanibel fifth-wheels manufactured from August 11, 2017, to November 14, 2017. A bracket used to secure the furnace may be missing. Therefore, this allows it to shift, which possibly results in the fresh-air intake and the furnace exhaust tubes being misaligned. Forest River, (574) 862-1025.

Recall 17V-838: Certain 2015-2018 Cascade and Cherokee trailers manufactured from January 7, 2015, to September 12, 2017. Wiring may have been improperly routed, allowing wires to be pinched between the chassis and the vehicle body. Forest River, (541) 995-3447.

Recall 17V-846: Certain 2017-2018 Georgetown motorhomes manufactured from January 31, 2017, to August 31, 2017, and built on Ford chassis equipped with antilock brake systems (ABS). The brake hydraulic electronic control units (HECU) may be missing valve block ball plugs. Therefore, this may potentially cause a brake fluid leak or air ingestion during electronic brake distribution and/or ABS activation. Ford, (800) 392-3673, or Forest River, (574) 206-7600.

Newmar Corporation

Recall 17V-843: Certain 2017 Bay Star, Bay Star Sport, and Canyon Star motorhomes manufactured from December 6, 2016, to February 22, 2017, and built on Ford chassis equipped with antilock brake systems (ABS). The brake hydraulic electronic control units (HECU) may be missing valve block ball plugs. Therefore, this may potentially cause a brake fluid leak or air ingestion during electronic brake distribution and/or ABS activation. Ford, (866) 436-7332, or Newmar, (800) 731-8300.

Thor Motor Coach

Recall 17V-844: Certain 2018 Freedom Traveler motorhomes, model A27, manufactured from October 24, 2017, to November 29, 2017. A heat shield was not installed between the propane tank and the generator exhaust pipe. Thor, (877) 855-2867.
