Cadillac Escalade

Finding “ACC” In Escalade

I outfitted my 2016 Cadillac Escalade with Blue Ox equipment to make it flat towable. One of the steps in the flat-towing procedure calls for the transfer case to be shifted into Neutral. Two areas in the owners manual describe how to do this, but they are unclear and incomplete. The procedure says: “Turn the engine off, and the ignition to ACC/Accessory.” With a push-button start, I could not find the Accessory mode. If I touched the ignition button without pressing the brake pedal, I got the On position. If I touched the ignition button while pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle started. I went to my local dealership and stumped a couple of service technicians. Finally, a service veteran figured it out: press and hold the start button without pressing the brake pedal. In about five to eight seconds, the ignition cycles into the Accessory position. Happy

towing.

Decal Removal

Smart Eraser Pad

Smart Eraser Pad

To remove unwanted decals from my 1999 Holiday Rambler, I used a Smart Eraser Pad on a hand drill. I bought the eraser pads online; however, they are available at most automotive paint stores. The pad reminds me of an eraser on the end of a pencil. It was easy to use, and it removed the decals with absolutely no damage to the coach.

Editor’s note: The maker of the Smart Eraser Pad is Astro Pneumatic Tool Co. Its website says the pad was developed to “dramatically reduce time spent on the removal of pinstripes, adhesive, and double-faced tape.”
