We Are Singles International
If you’re an RV owner who is currently “unhitched,” we invite you to join us. We are the Singles International chapter, and we have offered friendship and camaraderie since our formation in 1984.
Our chapter is like a big, extended family, one that does things together. As FMCA members, we volunteer a lot. You can see us wearing our yellow vests or T-shirts as we work at area rallies and international conventions. At one point, so many singles worked at the Southeast Area Rally that a separate chapter — SE Happy People — was established in 1996.
But it’s not all work. Those of us who are in Florida for the holidays meet for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s festivities. And we like to organize rolling rallies for which we caravan together. Plus, we get together before the FMCA events start.
Some of us are interested in dancing, and around 2005 we formed a group that puts on a rally at Skyline Ranch RV Park in Bandera, Texas. Every April, SI members arrange a 12-day event that includes delicious breakfasts; Texas two-step lessons; social hours; and local, live entertainment. You do not have to be an SI member to attend. Details are in our newsletter, called Scuttlebutt, and also at the Facebook Group page called Singles International All Singles Dance Rally.
As a chapter we excel at beanbag baseball, and we have had some success at beanbag toss. We help to run the games at FMCA conventions. I am often the convention games captain, and my fellow SI members and I coordinate the popular card bingo and beanbag toss. We had a good time doing that at the Perry, Georgia, convention this past March, and we plan to do the same at the July 2018 convention in Gillette, Wyoming.
More Info
Check us out in Gillette during our daily 4:00 p.m. happy hours; their location will be announced in the daily newsletter. After that convention, some of us are caravanning to see sights in North Dakota as we wind on to Iowa and the Midwest Area Rally.
Do you have to be single to be a member? Technically, no. If chapter members wind up getting married, they enjoy being able to stay in the chapter.
