The GMC Sunshine Statesmen chapter officially turned 40 a year ago, on July 28, 2017. But the chapter did not designate a specific rally to celebrate this milestone with lots of fun, food, fellowship, games, and laughter. After all, those are staples of all the chapter’s rallies.
The Florida-based chapter consists of GMC motorhome enthusiasts dedicated to the preservation of those classic vehicles built by General Motors from 1973 to 1978. This fun-loving group of nearly 60 member families generally has nine rallies a year, from September through May. In the past few years, we’ve been to some beautiful Florida campgrounds and places including the Keys, St. Augustine, Crystal River, Jacksonville, Titusville, Ocala, Fort Myers Beach, and many more.
Rally events vary but often include technical sessions, games, food, crafts, and fellowship, as well as outings to local sites, car shows, flea markets, beaches, and touristy events. In addition, we frequently can be seen working together to repair a coach or two during a rally.
Although we are a Florida group, our membership roster includes people who live in New York, Mississippi, Nova Scotia, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Colorado.
