Cardinal Virginians members celebrated the chapter’s 25th anniversary on June 15, 2018, at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in Greenwood, Virginia.
Current and former members received invitations. Seventeen coaches and 33 individuals attended the celebration and participated in the weekend’s events. Eight additional guests came for the catered dinner on Friday evening. Several others said that although they could not come, they loved hearing from the Cardinals.

The Cardinal Virginians chapter gathered at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in Greenwood, Virginia, for its 25th anniversary celebration.
On behalf of FMCA, Maxine Schremp, senior vice president of the Eastern Area, presented the chapter with its anniversary certificate and a monetary gift.
After a catered dinner, guests enjoyed a campfire and s’mores with a twist, which included coconut, peanut butter, chocolate, peppermint patty, and caramel in any combination desired. Yum, yum!
Other weekend highlights included a scavenger hunt and games on Saturday, and devotions on Sunday. One member reminded us how friendly and helpful the charter members were when he joined years ago; he was happy to know that the tradition was continuing with current members.
I give kudos to the great team that helped me put together the weekend and all those who participated in the weekend activities.
The chapter was formed on May 8, 1993, at Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista, Virginia. Over the years, members have focused their charitable efforts on causes that support military veterans. They also have given to food banks.
The Cardinal Virginians enjoy a rally each month from April to October and a get-together in November and at Christmas. Most members live in the western part of Virginia on each side of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
