Tech Tip: Quick-Dump System

Tech Tip: Quick-Dump System

December 2020

I have RV hookups in my backyard for RVing friends who visit. And, when I return from a trip, the setup allows me to dump my black-water and gray-water tanks into my septic tank easily and quickly without having to pull out the onboard sewer hoses and connectors.

I built this quick-dump system by connecting two sewer hoses and sliding them into a lightweight, perforated PVC sewer pipe that is 4 inches in diameter and 10 feet long. On one end of the hose, I attached a bayonet adapter to connect to the RV waste valve. On the other end, I affixed a sewer connector to attach to my sewer receptacle.

The pipe holds the drain hoses in a downward slanted position, so the tanks drain easily into the septic tank. There’s no need to put a floppy RV sewer hose on the ground, or to set up a cumbersome hose rack. The length of pipe and hoses can be modified for different situations.

Editor’s note: Be sure to check into the legalities of dumping RV waste at your residence. Dumping into a city sewage system may require special permits or may be prohibited altogether.
