Meet your FMCA On The Road Stitchers chapter. Organized in 2018, the group enjoys the sharing of projects that involve needlework at all FMCA international conventions. Chapter members have shared many different projects and techniques with those in attendance. They also donate many of their completed projects to local charities.
On The Road Stitchers members come from all over the United States and Canada. Recognizing that limitation, they only meet at conventions. The long-term plan of the group is to organize smaller gatherings that include visiting and learning from local quilt or craft businesses. The group has mentioned visiting Missouri Star Quilt Company as a start of a weeklong learning opportunity. They have also discussed visiting the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky, known as “Quilt City USA,” and the Paducah Wall to Wall floodwall murals. Paducah is known for its yearly Quilt Week, and the next one is scheduled for April 26 to 29, 2023.
The chapter has recently elected new officers: Glenda Milner as president, Narda Leeming as vice president, Judy Reel as secretary, Donna Dobbins as treasurer, and Cheryl Schmiedt as national director.
The 105th International Convention and RV Expo in Lincoln, Nebraska, provided the best opportunity to share projects like the fabric box, happy cluster hat, liquid vinyl gel coating, and the quill tee. The chapter will be meeting again during FMCA’s 106th International Convention in Perry, Georgia, March 15 through 18, 2023.
The On The Road Stitchers chapter exists to educate and promote crafting hobbies such as quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidery, cross-stitch, kumihimo, weaving, and other similar crafts. To learn more, contact treasurer Donna Dobbins at donnadobbins1@gmail.com.
