Storage Solution
Finding a place to store paper plates; plastic knives, forks, and spoons; wax paper; plastic wrap; aluminum foil; resealable plastic bags, etc., has always been a problem. They never stay where they’re put. My wife, Lena, came up with this idea to keep everything in place — using magazine holders she purchased at a discount department store. She had me fasten them together with quick-ties and turned them on their sides. Voila! Everything stays where it is supposed to be.

Bumper Covered
The rear bumper on our 1999 motorhome was in need of painting, as it was chipping and showing rust spots in several places. Instead of having it painted, we opted to have it sprayed with a truck bedliner material that’s available in several colors. We were advised to get the smooth finish, as it will be easier to clean. This should eliminate stone chips and rust spots. We’re very happy with the results.

Tube-Squeezing Tool
To help squeeze that last bit of caulk, sealant, or toothpaste from the tube, I made a simple tool. Cut a piece of 1/2-inch-diameter PVC pipe approximately 6 inches long, and then cut a slot in the pipe about half its length. When needed, slide the end of the tube inside the slot and roll up the tube around the pipe. The extra length of pipe gives strength and a grip for rolling.
Depending on the size of the tubes you have, you can use different sized pipes. For toothpaste tubes, select a small-diameter PVC pipe; cut the pipe slightly longer than the width of the tube; and make the slot full-length.

Shower Shelf Retainers
We appreciated Lewis French’s tip for adding adhesive beads to the bathroom shelves in the December 2002 issue of FMC (“Shower Shelf Stoppers,” page 30).
We didn’t like the idea of having to stow everything while on the move, so we cut strips of rubber (from factory leftover rubber roof material) and glued the tips of each strip to the sides of the shelves. A good silicone glue will work well. Now our shampoo, etc., need not be moved when we do.
