Newmar Debuts Tailgate-Friendly Motorhome
Newmar Corporation, based in Nappanee, Indiana, hopes to cater to tailgating enthusiasts with its newest floor plan, the 4258 All Star, which includes two kitchens, two bathrooms, and numerous other tailgating amenities.
he new All Star tailgate floor plan is built exclusively on a Spartan Mountain Master ME (mid-engine) chassis. The motorhome is powered by a 400-horsepower Cummins ISL engine and comes standard with Newmar’s exclusive Comfort Drive steering system.
The ME chassis allows Newmar to offer a second kitchen in the rear of the coach that features solid-surface countertops, a Norcold 12-cubic-foot four-door refrigerator, a 30-pound commercial ice maker, a Sharp 20-inch microwave-convection oven, a 26-inch LCD TV, and an industrial roll-up door on the side of the unit that displays two stainless-steel countertops when open.
The tailgate floor plan also offers a midcoach, full-size kitchen with a booth dinette (a round dinette is optional), a hide-a-bed sofa, a 32-inch LCD TV in the front overhead cabinet, a 26-inch LCD TV in the dry bar in the living area, and two captains chairs in line behind the front passenger seat (or an optional sofa).
Tailgating outside this motorhome will be enjoyable with a 52-inch Samsung LCD TV that is fixed on the curb side of the coach. Also standard is a Kicker sound system; exterior storage compartments large enough to fit two 100-cubic-foot coolers; a storage compartment on the street side large enough to hold 8-foot-long tables; and two Girard power awnings that shade the entire length of the curb side of the coach.
A tailgating unit would not be complete without a grill, so Newmar offers a Jenn-Air grill that slides out on a pullout tray from the large storage compartment behind the rear wheel and also swivels. Two flagpoles affixed to the top of the unit allow tailgaters to display their favorite team paraphernalia. The rear cap has an entrance door with pullout steps, giving the floor plan a second entrance.
The All Star offers customers six interior decor selections and an array of options for the exterior full-paint Masterpiece Finish.

Sales Milestone For Newell Coach
Newell Coach Corporation announced record-breaking sales of 42 Newell luxury motorhomes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007. Newell is increasing production to accommodate this unprecedented demand for its new and its late-model preowned coaches.
“As of October 1 (2007), we’ve ramped up to an annual rate of 44 new Newells,” said company president Karl Blade. “Our available new-coach inventory is currently zero, and our sold-order backlog extends well into next summer.”
Mr. Blade credits the advanced, innovative nature of the Newell coach for the company’s record-breaking sales. Newell manufactures its own custom body and chassis instead of using a commercial passenger bus shell, which allows the company to offer things other manufacturers cannot, such as a 12-speed automatic transmission and a steering tag axle that gives its 45-foot coach an industry-leading 37-foot turning radius.
Mr. Blade also credits the advanced exterior styling by Porsche Design for the success of Newell coaches. “Our customers appreciate the sleek, contemporary styling and quality of detail that are similar to a luxury automobile,” he said. “Porsche has provided a fresh, attractive European look that has been exceptionally well-received.”

Plus, it has three seatbelts for added safety.”
The bath area has been redesigned to include a combination tub and shower for added convenience, especially for bathing children, and a curved shower rod with curtain has been added to provide more “elbow room” while taking a shower. Another feature is the extra-large rear storage compartment, called Mega Storage. It offers approximately 100 cubic feet of storage capacity and has two conveniently located exterior doors. The compartment also includes recessed storage bins with removable lids for small items, a folding campsite table, and a recessed spare tire carrier with cover.

Thetford Acquires RV Sani-Con
Thetford Corporation, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has acquired RV Sani-Con Systems of Lexington, Kentucky, a manufacturer of holding-tank management systems. Financial details of the acquisition were not released.
RV Sani-Con System’s 12-volt-powered pump and motor are designed to quickly empty RV holding tanks. Once installed, the company’s macerating system reportedly can pump waste 20 feet uphill, as well as 350 feet away from an RV through a 3/4-inch water hose. The closed-loop system eliminates potential spills and is said to be environmentally friendly, because it reduces clean-water usage by eliminating the need to rinse sewer hoses and black-water tanks.
RV Sani-Con waste-evacuation systems are compatible with recreation vehicles of all sizes and types and included on many new motorhomes.
