Family & Friends: Margaret Goodman Passes Away

June 1, 2011

June 2011

Margaret Goodman, F44592, wife of former Western Area national vice president Bill Goodman, recently passed away. She was 97.

Bill Goodman, who preceded Margaret in death, served as Western Area vice president from 1988 to 1990. The couple was married for 64 years before Bill made his final trip on July 4, 1998.

The Goodmans learned about FMCA in July 1982 after meeting several members of the Cape Codders chapter during a trip to the East Coast. Once they returned home they joined FMCA and, shortly thereafter, the California chapter, for which Bill served as alternate national director (1985-86) and as national director (1987 to 1989). The couple belonged to 10 other FMCA chapters as well.

The Goodmans also enjoyed time on the water and owned several boats, including a 40-foot Richardson powerboat that they lived on for seven years. Bill christened it the Margaret C, in honor of his wife.
