Navistar Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 11V557000, which affects the following motorhomes: Beaver Coach “” 2009 Marquis and Patriot, and 2009 and 2010 Contessa; Holiday Rambler “” 2009 and 2010 Imperial, 2010 and 2011 Navigator and Scepter, and 2011 Ambassador, Endeavor, Neptune, and Trip; Monaco Coach “” 2009 through 2011 Dynasty and Signature, 2010 and 2011 Camelot, and 2011 Cayman, Diplomat, Knight, and Vesta. These motorhomes were manufactured from January 11, 2008, to April 15, 2011. (Affected units must have been sold by Monaco RV LLC to qualify for the recall.) The potential number of motorhomes involved is 630 in the United States and 130 in Canada.
On the affected motorhomes, the front windshield shade may separate from the cabin body without warning, possibly reducing the forward visibility of the driver. Reduced forward driver visibility may contribute to a vehicle crash that could potentially result in property damage, personal injury, or death.
A Monaco RV dealer will replace the fasteners that mount the front windshield shade to the cabin body; inspect the shade mounting clips; and, if necessary, relocate and/or install new shade mounting clips. The repair is expected to take approximately 45 to 90 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.
