RV News: September 2012
A new front cap, including a redesigned hood and stainless-steel grille, are among the exterior changes that have been incorporated into the 2013 Newmar Dutch Star motorhome.

Newmar Dutch Star Redesigned For  2013

Newmar Corporation recently introduced its 2013 product lineup, which features an emphasis on bolder colors and more eye appeal. Highlighting this design change was the total life-cycle redesign of one of Newmar’s best-known brands, the Dutch Star.

The 2013 Dutch Star features a new front cap with a stainless-steel grille and LED accent lighting. A new hood design with hidden hinges and a heavy-duty windshield wiper system with more coverage area are among the changes to the front of the new Dutch Star.

The rear cap also has been redesigned and features new automotive taillights with LED accents. Four distinct exterior graphics choices allow customers to select from a variety of colors. Each graphic incorporates five different colors with blended paint fades.

Interior improvements include three wood choices, hidden hinges on all cabinetry, and new designer mitered cabinet doors with glazing. Among other interior features are polished porcelain tile with glass inserts, solid-surface countertops, and a new backsplash design with cut glass. Additional interior upgrades include a padded vinyl ceiling with feature panels added to the bedroom of all floor plans, and a soffit with standard halogen lighting in the full-wall-slideout floor plan.

Several former options were made standard for the 2013 model year, including automatic generator start, an A&E Weather Pro electric patio awning, an A&E Oasis power entry door awning, and side-view cameras.

The Dutch Star is offered in 10 floor plans, with 37-foot, 40-foot, and 43-foot lengths. The 37-foot models feature a 400-horsepower Cummins ISL engine on a Freightliner chassis, while the 40-foot and 43-foot models are powered by a 450-horsepower Cummins ISL engine on a Freightliner chassis. Highlights of several floor plans include the Flexsteel Extenda Flex L-shaped sofa and a 46-inch Sony television on an electric-powered mechanism ( or “televator”) that raises or lowers the television from behind a sofa or a fireplace.

Millennium Luxury Coaches Available In Canada

Millennium Luxury Coaches recently announced that its Prevost coach conversions have been added to Transport Canada’s “List of Vehicles Admissible from the United States.”

After months of rigorous testing and documentation, Millennium coach conversions are now preapproved to comply with all applicable Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS), meet all requirements of Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Act (MVSA), and can be imported to Canada

“We are excited to be able to offer our world-class product to Canadian citizens,” noted Nelson Figueroa, president of Millennium Luxury Coaches. “This has been a long time coming, and our team worked very hard with Canadian officials to assure compliance.”

With pre-clearance, the company has simplified the importation process, which in turn significantly minimizes the customer’s time and effort before and after the vehicle crosses the border.

Xantrex Launches Sophisticated Testing System

Xantrex Technology announced that it has initiated its own comprehensive internal quality testing system. The company’s new Highly Accelerated Life Testing (H.A.L.T.) system will be applied to all product platforms to ensure product quality and reliability.

As an IS090001:2008 registered company, Xantrex puts all of its products, including power inverters, inverter chargers, and battery chargers, through independent laboratory testing. However, according to a press release, Xantrex has chosen to further invest heavily in its own procedures to ensure that its products meet or exceed all required standards and improve product reliability and performance.

The H.A.L.T. process takes place in a special chamber that allows the Xantrex quality team to evaluate products in harsh operating environments, including extreme thermal and vibration stress situations. The data from this evaluation is used for safety and quality analysis and subsequently used to rectify any potential issues that may appear in extreme conditions outside of product specifications.

For more information, visit www.xantrex.com or call (800) 446-6180 (U.S.); (800) 670-0707 (Canada).
