Forest River Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 14V499000, which involves certain model-year 2012-2015 Coachmen 2150LE Prism motorhomes manufactured from July 2011 to May 2014. The potential number of affected motorhomes is 256.
Because of improperly located welds in the affected vehicles, the propane tank support braces may not be secure. This could allow the LP tank to drop and fall off the vehicle while it’s moving, increasing the risk of fire or explosion.
Forest River has notified owners, and dealers will install a reinforcement kit. The repair is expected to take approximately one hour. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer period of time. The recall was expected to begin in September 2014. For more information about this recall, contact Coachmen customer service at (800) 353-7383; e-mail crv210service@forestriverinc.com.
Jayco Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 14V502000, which involves certain model-year 2014-2015 Precept motorhomes manufactured from January 3, 2013, to July 14, 2014. The potential number of motorhomes affected is 389.
In the affected vehicles, routing of wiring and inadequate protection of wiring for the driver’s and passenger’s electric seats may cause wires to be damaged by the seats moving up and down and back and forth. Damaged wires can cause a short, increasing the risk of a fire.
Jayco has notified owners. Dealers will reroute the electric seat wires and install an additional 10-amp circuit breaker. The repair is expected to take one hour. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer period of time. For more information about this recall, contact Jayco customer service at (800) 283-8267.
Newmar Corporation has announced NHTSA recall 14V485000, which involves certain model-year 2014 Dutch Star motorhomes manufactured from April 14, 2014, to June 20, 2014. The potential number of affected vehicles is 63.
In the affected motorhomes, an incorrectly wired headlight wiring harness may have been installed. If one of the two headlight circuit breakers fails, both headlights and both fog lights might go out, increasing the risk of a crash.
Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will install an auxiliary headlight harness. The recall was expected to begin in September 2014. For more information about this recall, contact Newmar customer service at (800) 731-8300.
