Allied Recreation Group (ARG) has announced two NHTSA recalls.
NHTSA recall 14V734000 involves certain model-year 2014-2015 Fleetwood Bounder Classic motorhomes manufactured from April 10, 2013, to August 7, 2014. The potential number of affected units is 40. ARG’s identification number for this recall is 141107ARG.
In the affected vehicles, a grab bar can be pulled loose from a wall because of insufficient structural reinforcement at the installation area. A grab bar that pulls loose during use could increase the risk of personal injury.
ARG has notified owners. The recall began in December 2014. Dealers will remove the grab bar and reinstall it onto a steel reinforcement plate.
NHTSA recall 14V756000 involves certain model-year 2014-2015 Fleetwood Excursion motorhomes manufactured from July 16, 2013, to November 5, 2014, and 2015 Holiday Rambler Ambassador motorhomes manufactured from August 7, 2014, to October 23, 2014. The potential number of affected vehicles is 345. ARG’s identification number for this recall is 141117ARG.
In the affected vehicles, a seat pedestal mounting support bracket may not have been installed according to engineering specifications. An incorrectly installed seat pedestal can cause the seat to detach from the floor, failing to restrain the occupant and increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
ARG has notified owners. The recall began in December 2014. Dealers will inspect the seat pedestal mounting components and, if necessary, install new mounting hardware.
For more information about either recall, contact ARG at (800) 509-3417.
Entegra Coach has announced NHTSA recall 15V009000, which involves certain model-year 2015 Aspire motorhomes manufactured from July 14, 2014, to October 29, 2014, and equipped with certain Latitude awnings manufactured by Carefree of Colorado. The potential number of affected vehicles is 11.
In the affected awnings, screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets may not have been manufactured to specification. If the screws fail, then the supporting bracket could fail, causing the awning to fall and possibly injuring a person beneath it.
Carefree has notified owners. Jayco dealers will remove and replace the defective screws. Entegra owners can get more information by calling Carefee at (800) 621-2617.
Prevost Car Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 14V771000, which affects certain model-year 2009-2011 XLII and X3 coaches manufactured from January 1, 2009, to December 31, 2011, and equipped with an automatic fire suppression system (AFSS) pressure tank in the engine compartment. The potential number of affected units is 80.
In the affected units, the AFSS tank’s pressure relief valve may not withstand the temperatures in the engine compartment, resulting in the venting of the extinguishing agent. If there is a fire and the pressure tank has previously vented, the AFSS would not be able to help extinguish the fire, increasing the risk of injury.
The recall was expected to begin in February. Prevost dealers will relocate the AFSS pressure tank. For more information, contact Prevost at (877) 773-8678.
Thor Motor Coach has announced NHTSA recall 15V004000, which involves certain model-year 2015 Challenger, Four Winds 5000, Hurricane, Miramar, Chateau Citation, Chateau, Windsport, and Palazzo motorhomes manufactured from April 24, 2014, to December 11, 2014, and equipped with certain Latitude awnings manufactured by Carefree of Colorado. The potential number of vehicles affected is 154.
In the affected awnings, screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets may not have been manufactured to specification. If the screws fail, then the supporting bracket could fail, causing the awning to fall and possibly injuring a person beneath it.
Carefree is notifying owners. The recall began January 26. Thor dealers will remove and replace the defective screws. Thor owners can get more information by calling Carefree at (800) 621-2617.
Winnebago Industries Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 15V008000, which involves certain model-year 2014-2015 Winnebago Trend, Winnebago Travato, and Itasca Viva motorhomes manufactured on Chrysler’s Ram ProMaster chassis from November 13, 2014, to December 23, 2014. The potential number of affected vehicles is 1,107.
In the affected vehicles, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may fail to learn the locations of the individual sensors while the vehicle is being driven. As a result, the low-tire-pressure warning light will illuminate, despite the tire pressures being within specification. Should one of the tires lose air pressure, the driver would not be notified. This could mask an actual low tire pressure condition, possibly resulting in tire failure and increasing the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and Chrysler dealers will update the TPMS module software. For more information, contact Chrysler at (800) 853-1403.
