Footwear/Glove Dryer

Outdoor activities are a major part of motorhoming for many people, but wet boots and gloves can put a damper on further outdoor fun. The Sahara Shoe and Boot Dryer may be the answer to this dilemma. Designed to dry two pairs of footwear, two pairs of gloves, or a combination, the Sahara was developed “to quickly eliminate moisture from shoes, boots, and gloves” by evenly distributing 105-degree-Fahrenheit air from the inside out. The drying process is said to be safe on all materials “” including leather “” and not to cause shrinking or damage. According to company literature, wet sneakers right out of the washing machine will be dry to the touch in three hours.

For maximum efficiency, the air may be shut off from one set of the drying tubes if only one pair of clothing items is being dried. Other features include a three-hour timer and a ski boot attachment. The $49.99 Sahara is UL-listed and covered by a one-year warranty.

Lightwave has introduced the Tec2000 and Tec3000 flashlights. According to product literature, 95 percent of the electricity consumed by conventional light bulbs is wasted in the form of heat. The Lightwave Tec flashlights use light-emitting diodes (LEDs) instead of bulbs, which results in less energy wasted and also produces a white light that is said to be more natural to the eyes than the yellow light of conventional flashlights. The Tec2000 uses three AA batteries (not included) that will last up to 300 hours, while the Tec3000 is powered by three C batteries (not included) that can provide 700 hours of lighting power. According to company literature, the LEDs will last for thousands of hours.

The Tec2000, which is equipped with four LEDs, retails for $34.95, while the Tec3000, which features seven LEDs, retails for $54.95. Both units are covered by a three-year limited warranty.
