Temporary Shoe Storage
We like to take our shoes off when we enter the motorhome to protect the carpet and flooring, and to make cleaning the interior easier. However, there was never a good place to put them, especially when we had guests, and we were constantly tripping over them. So, I bought a cloth shoe organizer that’s intended to hang inside a closet. I cut the top off to fit the back of the seat just inside the entry door. I folded it under the top edge of the seat and attached it using heavy-duty hook-and-loop fastening material. We also use it to store our campground information, empty garbage bags, and anything else that creates counter clutter. It works great!

Bed-Making Tip
Our motorhome has two couches that make into beds, in addition to our master bed. Sometimes it is difficult to find the right bed sheets for the right beds. So, I put all of the sheets for each bed into a pillowcase that is intended specifically for that bed. That way I can grab a pillowcase and have all the right sheets for the bed that needs to be made — so much easier, no sorting.

Precooked-Bacon Maker
I’ve tried various microwaveable bacon cookers and never found one that works very well. Plus, precooked bacon is costly and some varieties, such as thick-cut, low-sodium, etc. are not available precooked. One of the problems with making bacon is that it curls as it cooks, which makes it difficult to handle in the oven, microwave, or frying pan. It also splatters and makes a mess. To solve these problems, I created my own system. I used a drill to make small holes in the cups of a cupcake pan (or you can use an ice pick to make holes in a disposable foil cupcake pan). Coil up the bacon in each cup and bake it at 350 degrees until it starts to turn brown. Make sure to put your cupcake pan in another pan to catch the drippings. Once baking is finished, uncoil the bacon and lay it flat while it is still warm, and then refrigerate. The next time you need bacon, simply take the desired amount from the refrigerator, put it on a paper towel, and cook in the microwave oven until it’s done. This method makes it possible to drain the excess fat and allows you to make any kind of bacon you want.
