Starter Sentry theft-prevention deviceThe Starter Sentry from MasterLock Company LLC is said to prevent the theft of a vehicle by making it impossible for anyone but the rightful key holder to start it.

The Starter Sentry relay, which reportedly installs in minutes with minimal tools, disables the engine’s starter or fuel pump when armed. The system automatically activates 30 seconds after the vehicle is turned off and, thanks to the proximity-activated key fob, disarms itself as the owner approaches the vehicle. If the long-life battery in the fob ever runs down, the system disarms itself so the vehicle can be driven until the battery is replaced.

The Starter Sentry, which includes two key fobs and is said to be compatible with all factory-installed or aftermarket alarms and remote keyless entry systems, has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price that ranges between $100 and $125.
