Airstream Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 11V401000, which involves 2011 and 20112 model-year Airstream Avenue type B motorhomes manufactured from May 10, 2010, through July 29, 2011. The potential number of motorhomes involved is 66.
On the affected vehicles, the seat swivel mechanism locking pin on the driver’s and passenger’s seats could loosen and become disengaged from the swivel mechanism, allowing the seat to swivel freely while the vehicle is being operated. The seat movement could compromise the driver’s control of the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash. The seat movement also could place the occupant in a position that will not allow the vehicle’s safety restraints to correctly operate.
An Airstream dealer will replace the bolts used to hold the seat swivel locking mechanism in place with longer bolts to ensure proper engagement with the locking nut. The repair is expected to take approximately 20 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.

Cummins Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 11E031000, which affects 2010 ISB6.7, ISC8.3, ISL9, ISX11.9, and ISX15 engines that were shipped to original-equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Spartan chassis products and motorhomes built by Tiffin Motorhomes, from September 2010 through December 2010. The potential number of engines used in motorhome applications is approximately 1,300.
On the affected engines, V-band clamps that were shipped to OEMs to connect the inlet and outlet cone sections to the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC)/diesel particulate filter (DPF) may contain a safety-related defect. The T-bolt included on the V-band clamp may be susceptible to fracture or failure when subjected to stress or load. A fracture or failure of the T-bolt may cause the clamp to loosen and the inlet or outlet sections attached to the DOC/DPF housing to disconnect. Should one of these sections disconnect, hot exhaust gases can vent prior to exiting the tailpipe, creating a risk of combustion or damage to adjacent materials. Should both clamps fail, there is a risk in some applications that the DOC/DPF housing may detach completely, creating a road hazard.
A Cummins dealer will remove the old V-band clamps and install new clamps. The repair is expected to take less than one hour. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.

Fleetwood RV Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 11V399000 (Fleetwood recall #110728FRV), which affects 2010 and 2011 model-year American Eagle, American Tradition, Discovery, and Revolution LE motorhomes, and 2011 model-year American Heritage, Bounder, Bounder Classic, Expedition, Providence, and Southwind motorhomes manufactured from June 2, 2010, through September 20, 2010. The potential number of motorhomes involved is 359.
On the affected motorhomes, certain Murray or Siemens brand circuit breakers may have been installed that include a nonconforming “spring clip” plug-in assembly that breaks or fails to provide sufficient force to maintain a proper electrical connection to the panelboard. Over time, this could lead to excessive temperature, arcing, or thermal damage at the connection point, and potential damage to the panelboard’s electrical insulation. This could lead to fire, property damage, or personal injury.
A Fleetwood RV dealer will remove the defective circuit breakers and replace them with a new circuit breaker. The repair is expected to take approximately 30 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.

Navistar Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 11V429000, which affects 2011 model-year Monaco Vesta and Holiday Rambler Trip motorhomes manufactured from May 28, 2010, through April 18, 2011. The potential number of vehicles involved is 78.
On the affected motorhomes, the fuse in the high-beam headlight electric circuit may blow under normal operating conditions, disabling the high-beam headlights without warning. This could reduce driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash that could result in property damage, personal injury, or death.
A Monaco RV dealer will modify the high-beam circuit wiring to accommodate 25-amp fuses. The repair is expected to take approximately 90 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.
For more information, contact Monaco RV at (800) 685-6545 or your nearest Monaco RV dealer. Owner notification was undetermined at press time, pending availability of replacement parts.
Tiffin Motorhomes has announced NHTSA recall 11V416000, which affects 2010 through 2012 model-year Phaeton motorhomes with the QTH floor plans and 2011 and 2012 Phaeton motorhomes with QBH and QKH floor plans that are equipped with 2010 EPA-certified Cummins ISC engines on Powerglide chassis. The potential number of motorhomes involved is 149.
On the affected motorhomes, the exhaust pipe from the engine is mounted too close to the underside of the floor. Heat from the exhaust pipe could cause the insulation to melt and potentially lead to a fire.
A Tiffin dealer will install a heat shield to the bottom portion of the floor, and an insulating sock or blanket will be wrapped around the exhaust pipe. The repair is expected to take approximately two hours. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.
For more information, contact Tiffin at (256) 356-8661. Owner notification began in August 2011.
Winnebago Industries Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 11V433000, which affects 2009 through 2012 model-year Winnebago Access, Access Premier, and Chalet motorhomes, and 2011 model-year Impulse and Impulse Silver motorhomes manufactured from March 5, 2008, through April 28, 2011. The potential number of motorhomes involved is 418.
On the affected motorhomes, the propane supply hose may come in contact with the metal door frame. If the hose is in contact with the metal frame, it could potentially wear through, causing a propane leak that could ignite and result in personal injury or death.
A Winnebago Industries dealer will inspect and replace the hose if necessary, and install a rubberized clamp to route the hose away from any unfriendly surfaces. The repair is expected to take approximately one hour. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer time period.
For more information, contact Winnebago Industries at (641) 585-6939. Owner notification was expected to begin in September 2011.
