Fleetwood RV Inc. has announced two NHTSA recalls.
The first is recall 13V217000 (Fleetwood RV recall 130517FRV), which involves 2014 model-year American Revolution, Bounder, Discovery, Expedition, and Southwind motorhomes built from March 20, 2013, through May 15, 2013. The potential number of vehicles involved is 184.
On the affected motorhomes, the fasteners that attach a 20-watt solar panel to the shroud of the roof air conditioner may become loose during normal use. A loose solar panel could potentially separate from the vehicle during travel, which could lead to property damage, personal injury, or a road hazard that could result in a crash.
A Fleetwood RV dealer will install new locking nuts to secure the solar panel to its mounting bracket and new machine screws coated with a thread-locking adhesive to secure the mounting bracket to the air conditioner shroud. The repair is expected to take approximately 30 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer period of time.
The second is recall 13V218000 (Fleetwood RV recall 130417FRV), which involves 2013 model-year Bounder Classic and Terra models built from July 9, 2012, through January 16, 2013. The potential number of vehicles involved is 113.
On the affected motorhomes, the tire load index letter printed on the Federal Certification Tag is incorrect. The incorrect load index letter is “F”; the correct load index letter is “G.” Owners who rely on the information printed on the label may replace their tires with incorrect tires, which could lead to poor handling characteristics and possibly contribute to a tire failure that could lead to a crash.
Fleetwood RV has mailed a new Federal Certification Tag to owners of record, with instructions to deface the original tag and replace it with the new tag. Owners who are not comfortable installing the tag on their own will be instructed to contact a Fleetwood RV dealer to have the service performed. The repair will take approximately 6 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer period of time.

Newmar Corporation has announced NHTSA recall 13V170000, which involves model-year 2012 and 2013 Canyon Star 3920 motorhomes built from August 4, 2011, through February 19, 2013. The potential number of vehicles involved is 103.
The affected motorhomes fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment,” by missing reflectors on the rear cap. The absence of rear reflectors could reduce the ability of other motorists to see the motorhome, increasing the risk that another vehicle may crash into the motorhome.
A Newmar dealer will install the required reflectors. The repair is expected to take approximately 15 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service department may need the vehicle for a longer period of time.

Triple E Recreational Vehicles has announced NHTSA recall 13V156000, which involves model-year 2012 and 2013 Libero L24CB and Serenity S24CB motorhomes, as well as Regency GT and Unity U2 motorhome model lines built from November 30, 2011, through April 17, 2013. The potential number of vehicles involved is 410.
The affected motorhomes fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.” The light for the license plate does not adequately illuminate the plate so that it is visible when it’s dark outside. Without license plate illumination, the vehicle may be difficult to identify at night.
Triple E will send owners of affected motorhomes a new license plate lamp to install. The new lamp will have a clear lens. The recalled lamp has a frosted lens.
