FMCA’s Executive Board is made up of four nationally elected officers — the national president, senior vice president, secretary, and treasurer — and the 10 national vice presidents, who are elected by their respective areas. (The immediate past national president also serves as a nonvoting member.) Following are abbreviated resumes for the five national vice presidents who were recently elected or re-elected. (Committee assignments for 2012-13 were not available at press time.)
Andrew Balogh, F316832, Northwest Area
Andy and his wife, Kathie, joined FMCA in 2002. This year Andy was re-elected to a second term as national vice president, Northwest Area. He and Kathie are members of the Vancouver Islanders, Pacers Northwest, Elk International, Bernie & Red, and Reigning Rex chapters. Andy served as national director for the Vancouver Islanders from 2009-2010, president from 2005-2009, and alternate national director from 2004-2009.
Andy has served as chairman of the FMCA Anniversary Committee during the 2011-2012 term and as a member of the FMCA Convention Committee for 2010-2011. He acted as rally master for the Northwest Area Rally in Albany, Oregon, in 2009, and he served on the parking layout crew for the Northwest Area Rally in Albany in 2008. He also served on the parking layout crew for the International Area Rally in Quartzsite, Arizona, in 2010 and for the Western Area Rally in Indio, California, in 2010 and 2011. He was captain of handicap trams at the international convention in Redmond, Oregon, in 2007. He has been the Governmental and Legislative Affairs subcommittee coordinator for British Columbia since 2008.
Andy worked as the manager of technical services for 10 long-term-care facilities in Vancouver Island, British Columbia. He managed, co-coordinated, and prioritized maintenance, repair, and capital projects for staff, contractors, and construction crew; was responsible for the portfolio five-year capital financial plan; and was personnel manager for up to 76 engineering, electrical, and hull department staff.
He served 29 years as a chief marine engineer in the Canadian Forces (Navy). As fleet chief, he maintained responsibility for guiding and assessing squadron engineers in technical capabilities, including corrective and planned maintenance of all major propulsion, ancillary, and auxiliary equipment. He oversaw construction of the Fire Fighting Training Facility at CFB Esquimalt for the Canadian Navy. As president of the Pacific Camping Club, he helped to build and maintain two West Coast campgrounds for Canadian and U.S. military personnel.
Andy has been a member of the Elks and the Eagles for many years.
Andy and Kathie have been married 30 years, and they have two sons and two grandsons.
John Reynolds, F171042, Eastern Area
John recently was elected to his first term of national vice president, Eastern Area. He and his wife, Jayne, joined FMCA in 1991. Shortly thereafter they joined the Penn Coachmen chapter, and they attended their first Penn Coachmen rally in 1996. In years since, John has served the chapter as an area vice president, senior vice president, and chapter president. He and Jayne helped to form the Ives Runners chapter in the Eastern Area and the Deer Creek RV’ers chapter in the Southeast Area. John recently served as president of the Ives Runners chapter.
John worked as security chairman at several Eastern Area rallies, including those in Harrington, Delaware; Memphis, Tennessee; and Richmond, Virginia. He and Jayne are serving as rally masters for the October 2102 Eastern Area Rally in York, Pennsylvania, and also served in this capacity for two area rallies in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. John and Jayne cochaired seminar monitoring at FMCA’s international convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2006. John currently serves on the Technical Advisory Committee for Family Motor Coaching magazine.
Jayne and John have been married for 47 years and have two children and five grandchildren. They enjoy traveling the country with their grandchildren and their two miniature dachshunds.
After graduating from Williamsport High School in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, John attended Thompson Business Institute in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He has been employed in the construction industry for the past 45 years, starting out as a laborer and working his way up to company president. In 2010 he helped form a natural gas company, was elected to the board, and recently was re-elected as president and CEO.
Robert F. “Rick” Ricordati, F173709, Western Area
This year Rick was elected to his first term as national vice president, Western Area. He was serving a second term as senior vice president of the Western Motor Home Association (WMHA) when elected. His previous WMHA duties included WMHA southern area vice president, safety officer, and captain of the Western Area Rally’s motorhome displays.
Rick and his wife, Janice, joined FMCA in 1993 and are active in several chapters, with Rick holding leadership positions in the California chapter and the Southern California FMCA Elk chapter. Over the years he has worked with chapter volunteer parking crews; as chapter trail boss; and on several chapter committees.
Rick served as a co-rally master for the Western Area Rally three times. He and Janice worked at the FMCA booth during the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s California RV Show several times. They have recruited more than 50 new members to the association.
Rick’s professional background includes service in the Air Force and civilian employment in aircraft maintenance at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California. He was recruited for a position in the Space Division, ultimately retiring as director, after overseeing the operations of three divisions and a technical library. He retired with 34 years of combined USAF civilian and military time. His community interests include participation in the Highland, California, City Library Literacy Program as a reading tutor, and coaching Little League baseball and Junior All American football. He also belongs to the Elks and the American Legion.
Alfred F. Vormittag Jr., F231342, International Area
Alfred and his wife, Bobbi, joined FMCA in 1997. Currently they are full-time RVers. Alfred’s responsibilities prior to recently being elected national vice president, International Area, include serving as vice president and senior vice president of the International Area Association (INTO). His service over the years to INTO has included being rally master for the 2011 INTO Area Rally and co-rally master for the 2010 INTO Area Rally.
Alfred has volunteered or been a volunteer captain at Rocky Mountain, South Central, Great Lakes, Western, and Eastern Area rallies approximately 30 times.
Alfred and Bobbi are members of several chapters, including Beaver Ambassador Club, CAT RV Club, Elk International, Military Veterans, Roamin’ Catholic International, and Rocky Mountain. Alfred has served as rally master and co-rally master for the Beaver Ambassador Club and the CAT RV Club numerous times. He is a charter member of the CAT RV Club and has served as the chapter’s national and alternate national director.
Alfred was appointed by FMCA national president Connie Pool to handle the radio communications at four international conventions, and was appointed in 2009 by national president Charlie Schrenkel to be Fun and Games crew leader at FMCA’s conventions.
Alfred has served the community of Englewood, Colorado, over the years as a city councilman and on various boards and committees, and was on the planning and zoning board of Trinidad, Colorado.
His employment experience includes construction work and rental property ownership. His distinguished military background includes six years as an Army medic, three years with the 82nd Airborne and three years with the 19th Special Forces Group as a Green Beret.
Alfred and Bobbi have been married 23 years. Alfred has two sons.
Jon Walker, F268778, Great Lakes Area
Jon and his wife, Sondra, joined FMCA in 1999. This year Jon was re-elected to a second term as national vice president, Great Lakes Area. Prior to this, he served as senior vice president of the Great Lakes Area MotorCoach Association (GLAMA). He is a charter member of the Great Lakes Converted Coaches chapter and of the Winnebago and Friends chapter. He has attended every summer international convention and G.L.A.S.S. Rally since becoming a national director. In addition, he has been a volunteer for these conventions and rallies. He was a member of the GLAMA Bylaws Committee during the formation of the area association. As president of GLAMA, he started the first-ever area leadership conference, held at FMCA national headquarters in Cincinnati in 2011.
On the national level, Jon is a member of the Convention Committee and was host vice president for this year’s Family Reunion in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a member of the Review Council from 2007-2009 and the Governmental and Legislative Affairs Committee from 2009-2011. He served as national volunteer coordinator for the summer international convention in Bowling Green, Ohio, in 2009.
Jon was a public school principal in southern Illinois for 10 years; a corporate commercial jet pilot for Miles Laboratories and Bayer Corporation for five years in Elkhart, Indiana; and for the past 24 years has owned his own mailing/office automation distributorship, serving northern Indiana and southern Michigan. He attended the University of Alabama and Southern Illinois University. He has a bachelor’s degree in social science and a master’s degree in public school administration.
Jon and Sondra have been married for 45 years and have one son, one daughter, and three grandsons. Jon has been active in the Elkhart Kiwanis Club, serving on their board of directors for more than 10 years; served as a voluntary probation officer for Elkhart County; has been a longtime member of the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce; and is a past president of the Elkhart County Radio Association. Jon and Sondra are very active in St. John’s Episcopal Church, with Jon serving as a senior warden and on the church vestry.
