Holiday Rambler Debuts Aluma-Lite Type C
Monaco RV recently unveiled the 2011 Holiday Rambler Aluma-Lite Type C motorhome. According to product literature, the easy-to-maneuver, fuel-friendly RV was designed especially for families and developed for today’s price points.
Though small in stature, the Aluma-Lite is built with many large features. The motorhome’s 61-gallon fresh water tank allows for extended camping. It features an extra-large exterior bay, making it possible to store all equipment in a central location. Entering the Aluma-Lite is facilitated by a 26-inch-wide door. Inside, the kitchen boasts a 42-inch-by-18-inch work space accented by a 48-inch-by-36-inch window at the dinette. The wardrobe measures 25 inches wide, 43 inches tall, and 25 inches deep, to provide enough storage space for extended stays.
For improved fuel economy, the Aluma-Lite front cap is aerodynamically designed to reduce wind turbulence and drag. Access to the house batteries is through a compartment in the entryway for easy maintenance, and the motorhome is equipped with a 5,000-pound towing hitch. The Aluma-Lite Type C will be available in five floor plans, ranging from 23 feet to 31 feet in length.

New Best Parks Guide Available
Best Parks in America Inc., a group of independently owned and operated RV parks, resorts, and campgrounds, has announced the release of its new national print directory, RVing & Camping at the Best Parks in America.
The directory features 21 pages of photos, descriptions, and complete contact information for the 63 parks affiliated with Best Parks In America. The parks included in the book are found in 23 states and Quebec, Canada.
RVing & Camping at the Best Parks in America is available at each of the affiliated parks and will be distributed at major RV rallies and camping shows throughout the United States. The free directory also can be ordered at http://www.bestparks.com/.
The directory complements Best Parks’ online directory of affiliates, http://www.bestparksinamerica.com/, where RVers can view numerous photos of the parks, get directions to the park of their choice, and contact the parks directly through live links to each park’s Web site.
New Web Site Offers Public And Private Campground Lists
Most campground directory Web sites are limited to parks that are affiliated with a particular campground chain, association, or government agency. But AccessCamping.com provides links to more than 500 campground databases across the United States, as well as 70 Canadian campground databases that collectively list more than 2,000 public and privately owned facilities in Canada.
This portal has been created to provide consumers with the ability to quickly find privately owned RV parks as well as government-run campgrounds. The easy-to-use site, http://www.accesscamping.com/, also includes an iPhone application.
AccessCamping.com also features links to online databases of the major campground industry directories, including those provided by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds and by Trailer Life and Woodall’s North American campground directories, as well as the Web sites of campground chains such as Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) and Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts.
RV Parks Offering Extreme Activities
Lazy River at Granville, a 195-site campground in Granville, Ohio, has a 300-foot-long zipline campers can fly down. Campground owner Mark Kasper shook his head in disbelief when his 79-year-old mother, Phyllis Kasper, climbed the attraction’s 30-foot staircase and rode the zipline, literally dangling alongside a river that skirts the west end of the park. That was four years ago, and to this day, his 83-year-old mom holds the record for being the oldest person to ride the zipline.
Lazy River at Granville is one of many privately owned and operated campgrounds across the country that are investing in unique and challenging physical activities to keep their guests entertained, said Linda Profaizer, president and CEO of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.
Here’s a sampling of other privately owned and operated campgrounds, RV parks, and resorts across the country that offer unusual activities:
