Visiting, shopping, and relaxing. These were the perfect ingredients for a great time as members of the Ozark Ridge Runners celebrated the chapter’s 10th anniversary during a rally in Canton, Texas, November 3 through 6, 2011.

The 24th Annual Western Area Rally, presented by the Western Area Motorhome Association, was held January 11 through 15, 2012, at the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival Fairgrounds in sunny Indio, California. The theme for this year’s rally was “Western’s Pirate Adventure,” which inspired some fabulous floats and costumes for the parade.

The Cruisin’ Cajuns chapter celebrated its 41st birthday November 17 through 20, 2011, at Rayne Civic Center in Rayne, Louisiana. There were 200 coaches at the birthday rally.

After serving as president of the Olympic Snowbirds chapter for one year and working at FMCA’s Northwest Area Rally in Albany, Oregon, last June, it has become clear to me that our chapter has an excellent reputation and is well-liked in the RV industry.Â

A mutual love of Virginia Tech football and motorhoming were the reasons behind the creation of the Hokie Travelers chapter, which recently celebrated its fifth anniversary.

Last year was a time of celebration for the Ozark Ridge Runners. The chapter, which is based in the Ozark Mountain area of northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri, celebrated its 10th anniversary as an FMCA chapter in 2011 — 10 years of great travel, fun rallies, and new friendships.

The Ontario Overlanders chapter has been part of Family Motor Coach Association for 34 years, having received its charter on February 17, 1978. Through the early days, money was scarce and the chapter pulled together to cook meals, drive buses, and tirelessly volunteer.

Charles “Phil” Johnson, L3221, who served as FMCA’s sixth national president from 1974 to 1977, passed away on December 20, 2011, at his home in Darien, Wisconsin. He was 89.

The 20th Century Wagontrainers (TCW) chapter gathered for its Jersey Devil Halloween rally at Holly Acres, the home of members Bob and Peggy Pittenger, on October 13 through 16, 2011.

Gerald Chavers Sr., F10014, who served as FMCA national vice president, Southeast Area, passed away in his Panama City, Florida, home on May 25, 2011. He was 89. His wife, Patricia, died soon after, on June 22. She was 86.

Have you heard of the Freightliner Chassis Owners Club (FCOC)? The FCOC is the largest chapter in the Family Motor Coach Association, with more than 3,500 member families, and has been in existence since January 1995.

In mid-May FMCA officials toured the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Indiana. The group met with Tom McNulty, Hall of Fame executive vice president (center), and discussed FMCA’s current commemorative display, which recently was moved to a different area of the facility, as well as other topics related to FMCA and the RV industry.

This story began on Sunday afternoon, March 20, 2011, following FMCA’s Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase in Perry, Georgia. At a small RV park in Plains, Georgia, 23 members of FMCA Chapter: Habitat for Humanity® gathered to organize and plan an event that for many would be a life-changing experience.

A Hilly Billy Wedding was the highlight of the Fingerlakers chapter’s 37th annual Officers Rally in upstate New York. Sixty-six members and guests attended the three-day rally held October 8 through 10, 2010, at the Genesee Country Campground in Caledonia, New York.

Jack C. Schneiker, L2150, a longtime member of FMCA who, along with his wife, Belle, recruited more members to the association than any other family, died at his Tucson, Arizona, home on April 1, 2011. He was 87.
